Application for leave from studies

Important information

Leave from studies (leave of absence) means taking time out from your programme or course with the intention of returning at a later date. If there are special reasons, you may be granted an approved leave with a guaranteed place to return to at a later, specified date. Your reasons must be supported by formal documentation. Please see Documents to be uploaded with your application below.

If your reasons do not qualify as special reasons, or if you haven't provided the necessary documentation to support your reasons, you will not be guaranteed a place. In this case, you will only be able to return if there are places available on the programme or course. If you have any questions, please contact your faculty's Student Administration Office.

You must notify your return to the programme or course according to the instructions in the decision sent to your email address. If you do not follow the instructions, you risk losing your place on the programme or course. This applies regardless of whether your application for a leave from studies has been approved or rejected.

Please note: If you need a residence permit to study in Sweden and apply for leave from studies, you are responsible for ensuring that your study progress meets the the Swedish Migration Agency's requirements for an extension of your residence permit. If you have any questions about the requirements, please contact the Swedish Migration Agency.

To submit a request for leave from studies, log in to your account using your MauID, excluding @mau.se at the end.
